For September 2025 entry into Reception

The Laurus Trust is the Admissions Authority for Hazel Grove Primary School. The co-ordination and administration of admissions for entry is undertaken by the Local Authority, Stockport Metropolitan Borough Council.

Hazel Grove Primary School has a catchment area, more information can be found on the Stockport Council website. Offers will be made by the Local Authority.

Admissions deadline for the academic year 2025/26: 15th January 2025.

In Year Applications

Applications for school places in Years 1 – 6 are known as ‘In Year Applications’ and should be made using the Stockport Council website.

Parents and Carers should contact the school to arrange a school tour and/or a taster session for their child if required.  The in year admissions process is coordinated by the Local Authority on behalf of the school.

How do I apply?

Applications for a September 2025 Reception place will open mid-August 2024 via the Local Authority’s online application form. The closing date will be 15th January 2025.

How does the admissions criteria work?

The school has 60 Reception places. If more than 60 applications are received, priority will be given to children in accordance with the oversubscription policy which can be found in the Admissions Policy below. 

How will I be told if my application is successful?

You will be informed by email in mid April 2025 and by letter two to three days later.

What happens if my application is unsuccessful?

All parents have a statutory right of appeal to an Independent Appeal Panel. Information on the appeals process is provided in the Admissions Policy.

Do you have a waiting list?

Yes, we do have a waiting list. Following an unsuccessful application, any parent/carer can ask for their child’s name to be placed on the waiting list.

Vacant places will be allocated to children on the waiting list in accordance with the oversubscription criteria, which can be found in the Admissions Policy below.
